Hostage crisis; Negotiations in progress - Snipers and special forces on site
French police launched an operation involving special teams when unknown persons took hostages in a house in Luss, a suburb of Lille, this afternoon.
Police negotiations with the kidnappers are ongoing, France 3 channel reported.
Because of this, the French police today evacuated the "Quick" restaurant, which is located across the street from the building where the hostages are being held, French media reported.
According to the France 3 channel, which referred to the statement of the president of the local government of Luss, Anne Vautier, it is about a situation with hostages.
Vautier said that for now it is not known how many hostages are in the house across the street from the "Quick" restaurant.
As announced by the Directorate of the French Police (DIPN), the action is still ongoing, TV channel Bfmtv reports.
Members of the riot control unit as well as a team of special forces and snipers were deployed on the spot.
According to local media, the police surrounded a house in George Potier street in Lille.
Traffic is interrupted in that part of Lille.
