After 40 minutes of "warrior" basketball at the Belgrade Arena, the Partizan Belgrade players defeated Red Star in front of a full crowd.

This marks Partizan Belgrade’s sixth consecutive win and their second victory over Red Star in the EuroLeague this season.

The Partizan Belgrade basketball team defeated Red Star 89-82 in Round 35 of the EuroLeague.

The Black-and-Whites, playing as visitors, overcame the Red-and-Whites and significantly complicated their chances of making the playoffs.

Red Star still have matches remaining against Paris, ASVEL, and Real Madrid, while Maccabi and Dubai, each one win behind, are breathing down their necks. Maccabi has one fewer game due to their derby against Hapoel, which was postponed to the end of the season.

Additionally, the team from Tel Aviv faces games against Baskonia, Paris, and Virtus, posing a serious threat to Red Star.

Partizan Belgrade has long lost its chances for the EuroLeague playoffs or play-ins and, with a 15-20 record, sits in 14th place. They still have matches against Efes, Žalgiris, and Baskonia to close out the competition.

Carlik Jones:

Before the game, the Black-and-Whites stirred controversy by stating that nothing would make them happier than knocking Red Star out of the playoff race.

“I didn’t care; I meant what I said. People got offended and everything else. I’m a competitor, I want to win—which is exactly what we did tonight. I want us to keep going like this, making things difficult for everyone,” Jones said, adding:

“I understand the fans; they are passionate about their team. Sometimes things get out of control. I’m glad my players had my back and allowed me to stand by my words. I won’t talk too much—I heard comments that the last derby was just a warm-up for them. It’s all been recorded.”
