The Winter Olympics were officially opened on Friday evening at San Siro Stadium. Serbia is represented by three athletes, and Novak Djokovic also attended the ceremony.

He attended the parade and ceremony at Milan’s stadium with his family, of which he is a fan.

“A beautiful spectacle, as always. It’s always nice to be in Italy. Clearly, Italy is a country of sport. We expected a show, and that’s exactly what we saw. This was my first time at a Winter Olympics opening ceremony, and it was an emotional experience. I’m very happy to have shared this moment with my family,” said Novak Djokovic.

He was then asked about the upcoming Summer Olympics, scheduled for LA 2028.

“Far away, yes. At this stage of my life and career, it’s far off, but obviously I have the desire to get there,” Djokovic emphasized.

With a spectacular opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, held across four locations and featuring two Olympic flames, full of references to Italian icons and culture, the Games in Milan and Cortina were officially opened.

Italy is hosting the Winter Olympics again after 20 years, following the 2006 Games in Turin.

These will be the most geographically spread-out Olympic Games—summer or winter—with venues covering more than 22,000 square kilometers.

A total of 2,871 athletes from 92 countries will compete for 116 gold medals.

The main opening ceremony, titled “Harmony,” took place in Milan at the San Siro football stadium in front of 61,000 spectators, and simultaneously at three other locations—Cortina in the Dolomites, Livigno in the Alps, and Predazzo in the autonomous province of Trento.
