Novak Djoković on Jannik Sinner: "It's not only up to me, that's the reality"
Serbian tennis player Novak Djoković shared his expectations ahead of the semifinal match against Jannik Sinner at the Australian Open.
Jannik Sinner has recently found a formula against Novak Djoković. The Italian has won their last five encounters, currently leading 6-4 in their overall head-to-head record against the Serbian star.
Their most recent clash on a big stage was in the Wimbledon semifinal, where Novak, visibly exhausted and injured after his previous-round match against Cobolli, suffered a decisive defeat.
Just a month earlier, at Roland Garros, Sinner was also the victor in three sets, but that match was far more closely contested. The third set was particularly dramatic, with Djokovic holding three set points that he failed to convert.
Novak is aware that breaking this negative streak will require changes in his approach.
“There is something different I will do, every match is different, you play against a different opponent, and you have to adapt. There is a foundation you have to work on to make it solid, and the other part is to adjust tactically to the opponent on that day. Against Sinner, I have had a negative record in most matches over the past year and a half, and I will look to turn that around,” Djokovic said.
