Official: Tomašević appointed head of the Olympic Committee of Serbia
Former basketball national team player Dejan Tomašević has been elected in Belgrade as the new president of the Olympic Committee of Serbia (OKS).
Tomašević has succeeded Božidar Maljković as president of the Olympic Committee of Serbia (OKS).
The former basketball player was unanimously elected as OKS president at the first regular session of the OKS Assembly for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic cycle.
During his career, he played for Borac, Crvena zvezda, Partizan, Budućnost, Tau Ceramica (Baskonia), Pamesa (Valencia), Panathinaikos, and PAOK.
Tomašević won gold medals with the Yugoslav national team at the World Championships in 1998 and 2002, as well as a silver medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.
With the national team, he also earned three gold medals (1995, 1997, and 2001) and one bronze (1999) at the European Championships.
From 2011 to 2015, Tomašević served as vice president of the Basketball Federation of Serbia (KSS).
He then held the position of general secretary of the KSS from October 2015 to November 2019.
