That's it — Trinchieri has reached an agreement with Partizan?!
Italian coach Andrea Trinchieri has reached an agreement with Partizan’s management to return as head of the coaching staff.
Trinchieri will become the new-old coach of Partizan, replacing Željko Obradović, Sport Klub reports.
Trinchieri has been without a job since he was dismissed from Žalgiris last summer, just 36 hours after winning the championship title.
The experienced Italian coach previously led Partizan from 2018 to 2020, during which the team was performing very well in the ABA League and EuroCup before the season was interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
“Trinchieri and President Ostoja Mijailović did not part on good terms, and the Italian even sued Partizan over unpaid wages — a dispute he won,” the source added.
Trinchieri most recently worked at Žalgiris, where he spent a year and a half before being dismissed last summer, and prior to that, he was in charge of Bayern Munich.
Partizan’s next game is on Thursday at the “Arena” against Bayern, and Trinchieri is not expected to be on the bench for that match, but he could potentially take charge in the next EuroLeague round when Partizan hosts Red Star.
