An easy ride for Djokovic till the semifinal... And then...
Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has, one would say, a favorable draw to the semi-finals at the Masters in Monte Carlo.
As the third seed, he is exempted from playing in the first round, while in the second, he is expected to play witht he winner of the duel between Stan Wawrinka and Alejandro Tabilo.
It is more realistic to expect a duel against the Chilean and an opportunity for revenge for the defeat in the only meeting so far that Tabilo inflicted on him last year in Rome.
Grigor Dimitrov is certainly the biggest name that could await him in the round of 16, but the Bulgarian tennis player is not a specialist on clay and before that he would have to eliminate Nicolas Jarry and Jan-Lenard Struff.
Daniil Medvedev and Alex De Minaur in the quarterfinals are the same story as Dimitrov. Grass suits Grigor, and these two prefer concrete, and it shouldn't be surprising if a surprise sneaks into the top eight. Names like Baes and Mahač, including Hatchanov certainly have the potential for that.
Realistically speaking, the first real challenge for Djokovic should be the semi-finals, where he will most likely face first seed Alexander Zverev.
The two have played against each other on clay twice so far. The German celebrated in 2017 in the Rome final, while Djokovic got revenge two years later in the Roland Garros quarterfinals.
If he manages to take the lead in head-to-head matches on that surface, the most realistic scenario is that he plays against Carlos Alcaraz in the final for the 100th title in his career.
The Spaniard has Casper Rudd, Jack Draper, Andrei Rublev, Ben Shelton, Artur Fiss on his side of the draw...
