RHMZ warns: Stormy, even hurricane-force winds expected over the weekend
Cloudy and mostly dry weather with morning frost and fog will mark today in Serbia, while the košava wind is expected to strengthen over the weekend, reaching stormy, and in some areas even hurricane-force gusts, RHMZ announces.
In Serbia, today will be cloudy but dry, with a high temperature of up to 10 degrees Celsius, and the košava wind is expected to strengthen.
According to the forecast by the Republic Hydrometeorological Institute of Serbia (RHMZ), light frost is expected in the morning, with fog in some areas, which may linger longer in river basins and valleys. In eastern Serbia and northern Vojvodina, it will be cloudy but generally dry. A light to moderate east and southeast wind will blow, strengthening in the košava region in the afternoon.
The lowest temperatures will range from -4 to 0°C, while daytime highs will reach from 1°C in the northwest and east to 10°C in central and southern parts of Serbia. In Belgrade, light frost and short-lived fog are expected in the morning. During the day, skies will be partly to moderately cloudy with a light to moderate southeast wind. The lowest temperature in the city will be around -3 to 0°C, and the daytime high around 7°C.
In the coming days, the weather will be changeable, with morning frosts gradually weakening and daytime temperatures rising. In the košava region, the southeast wind will strengthen on Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday it will reach storm force, with hurricane-force gusts of around or just above 100 km/h in southern Banat. The wind will weaken on Monday during the day and shift to the northwest and west.
Precipitation will be light, short-lived, and sporadic, with more rain expected in the latter part of next week. In the Timočka Krajina region, it will remain cloudy, gloomy, and cold until Monday, with occasional drizzle or light snow and daytime highs of 0 to 3°C.
