Serbia: A freezing day ahead, expect severe minus temperatures; Temperature drops to minus 15 MAP

The last day of this year will bring very cold weather to Serbia, with an influx of cold air from the north and northeast.

In most areas, an icy day is expected, as the maximum temperature will remain below zero. In Vojvodina, the weather will be clear. In other regions, partly cloudy conditions are expected.

In northeastern, eastern, central, and southeastern parts of Serbia, as well as in the Pomoravlje region, brief snow showers are expected occasionally.

However, no significant precipitation or snow cover is expected, except in eastern Serbia, especially in the mountains of eastern Serbia and the Homolje area, where up to 5 cm of snow may fall.

Morning temperatures will range from -9°C in the south, southwest, and southeast of Serbia to -2°C in the Timočka and Negotinska Krajina regions, and around -4°C in Belgrade. Maximum daytime temperatures will range from -3°C to 2°C, reaching 0°C in Belgrade.

Freezing on New Year’s Eve


Serbia will face a freezing night on New Year’s Eve, with temperatures below zero in all regions. The coldest conditions will be in the southwest, south, and southeast of Serbia, while the mildest will be in the north, in Belgrade and Vojvodina, as well as in the west, primarily in the Kolubara district. However, even in these areas, it will still be very cold.

Nighttime minimum temperatures will range from -12°C in cities and regions in the south and southeast of Serbia to -4°C in the north and Vojvodina, with the mildest conditions in the Kolubara district, around -3°C in Valjevo.

In most areas, nighttime temperatures will range from -9°C to -5°C.

The coldest conditions will be in the high mountains and on the Pešter plateau, with temperatures in the Sjenica area reaching as low as -15°C.

Weather in Belgrade


In Belgrade, nighttime temperatures will range from -4°C on the outskirts to -2°C in the city center, and the weather will be dry.

In most areas, the night will be dry and clear, while cloud cover is expected in the north and northeast. In the far northeast of Serbia, a few snowflakes are possible, mainly in Vojvodina, particularly in Banat, but without significant precipitation or snow cover formation.

Therefore, if you are staying outdoors, it is advised to wear very warm clothing and follow the instructions of state and relevant authorities, as exposure to very low temperatures can be potentially very dangerous if a person is not adequately prepared.

January 1 will bring dry and cool weather

Maximum temperatures will range from 2°C to 6°C, reaching up to 5°C in Belgrade.

 

On Friday, a warm-up is expected along with very strong southwesterly winds, and a flow of very warm air from the Mediterranean as part of a southern current on the front side of a cyclone.

According to current forecasts, a cold spell is expected in the days leading up to Christmas.

Under the influence of the cyclone, there will be rain and snow, and it is expected to remain windy, with the southwest wind turning to northwest as the cold front advances, bringing a significant influx of colder air from the north.
