Heat wave in Serbia: Temperatures up to 42 degrees, RHMZ warns of fires
The heat wave in Serbia does not let up. Temperatures will reach 42 degrees by the end of the week. RHMZ issued a warning due to extreme heat and increased risk of fire.
The heat wave will be most pronounced in the southern and eastern parts of Serbia, where temperatures of 35 to 40 degrees are forecast daily until Saturday, and locally up to 42°C on Friday and Saturday.
In the northern and western parts of Serbia, today the temperatures will be slightly lower, from 32 to 34 degrees, but a new increase will follow from Thursday, with values between 35 and 39°C.
Warning for Belgrade
For the Belgrade area, from Thursday to Saturday (July 24 - 26), RHMZ forecasts very warm weather, with maximum temperatures between 36 and 39 degrees Celsius.
Extreme conditions for outdoor fires
RHMZ particularly warns of a very high risk of fire outbreaks and spread, especially in areas with a pronounced deficit of soil moisture. The greatest risks are expected on Friday and Saturday, when a moderate to strong southwest wind will blow in the hilly and mountainous regions.
Regions most threatened: SMS alerts are coming
Citizens in the following districts have already received SMS alerts due to the combination of heat wave and prolonged drought:
Toplica region
Jablanica region
Pčinj region
Pirot region
Nis region
Zajecar region
At least five consecutive days with temperatures of 38 degrees and above are expected in these regions.
