Slovenian mountain rescuers this morning continued their operation near the peak of Tošc in the Julian Alps, where an avalanche yesterday buried three Croatian mountaineers.

The two missing men, who had been searched for since yesterday, were unfortunately found dead, reports the Slovenian outlet 24ur. According to unofficial media reports, the victims are brothers from Kaštela.

Slovenian Interior Minister Boštjan Poklukar and his Croatian counterpart Davor Božinović arrived at the Bohinj rescue unit to follow the progress of the operation and the coordination of rescue teams.

Difficult conditions persist


Challenging weather and snow conditions still prevail in the area below Tošc, and the risk of new avalanches remains high. Rescuers have deployed additional teams and a helicopter to make the operation as swift as possible.
