Shameless move; Podgorica authorities send representative to "Storm" Operation Anniversary celebration

According to media reports, Montenegro's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Ervin Ibrahimović, confirmed that the chargé d'affaires of Montenegro's Embassy in Zagreb will attend the commemoration of the 31st anniversary of the military-police operation "Storm" in Knin.

This justification by Podgorica authorities, describing the move as "standard diplomatic practice" and part of "fostering good-neighborly relations," represents, according to critics, a direct insult to thousands of refugees who found shelter in Montenegro in August 1995, fleeing on tractor trailers under gunfire, as well as to hundreds of thousands of citizens who sympathize with the suffering of their own people.

Political continuity of shame

The move by the current authorities shows that Montenegro's foreign policy, despite major promises of change, continues to be shaped by those who disregard Serbian victims and systematically ignore what they describe as the largest ethnic cleansing in Europe since World War II.

While celebrations are held in Knin featuring Ustaša symbols and chants under which, according to critics, children were killed on the Petrovačka cesta road and elderly people at their homes, Podgorica's official representative will stand in attendance, thereby giving legitimacy to the crime, Borba.me reported.

The question arises: how long will the authorities in Podgorica continue to bow down and congratulate what critics describe as the persecution and suffering of the Serbian people in exchange for cheap diplomatic points and efforts to appease regional and global powers?

The people of Montenegro remember and do not forget. The expulsion of Krajina Serbs is not a reason for celebration or diplomatic receptions, but a lasting wound for the entire Serbian people, including those who live and build their lives in Montenegro. To renounce empathy for victims is to renounce basic human dignity, and, according to critics, this government has once again shown that it values the celebrations of others more than its own dignity.
