Vučić from Paris: I talked with Macron for three hours; I fought for the interests of our country PHOTO/VIDEO
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, addressed the citizens of Serbia from Paris, where he held important talks with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.
“I talked with Macron for three hours. In the coming days, we can achieve a lot. I spoke about Serbia’s position. We discussed strategic matters, and I will need some time to analyze everything. We talked about Serbia’s European path,” Vučić said.
“Belgrade is finally getting a metro,” he stated.
He added that they discussed agriculture, the airport, and the geopolitical situation in the world.
“We talked about geopolitics. I’m not one of those who think they know everything — I need to assess in my head what I am allowed to say so that I don’t cause any harm to Macron,” he said.
He added that today is a very difficult day for the French and that he is very pleased to have been given so much time to speak with Macron on such a day.
“I am very happy with this conversation. Today is a difficult day for France — the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attack, one of the worst in modern French history, in which 130 people were killed. To be given three hours at the Élysée Palace on such a day — I must be happy and satisfied with the talks. It is a great honor for Serbia. I fought for the interests of our country and pointed out all the problems we are facing. I believe that we will have a sincere ally in France,” Vučić said.
Speaking about opposition media, he said that he cannot listen to hatred toward his own country.
"I cannot listen to that nonsense anymore, that hatred toward their own country because they have never done anything for it, so they cannot understand that some people actually have. That’s why they offer us candidates who destroyed our dinar; they cannot understand or accept that for 13 years we have had a stable exchange rate for the dinar, even though it is not a fixed rate, as we have never had in history, because some people hate their own country. What financial breath? We have money. In gold, we have almost 6 billion euros, more… We inherited a quarter of that in gold. Someone worked like a hamster. That’s not my money, that’s the state’s money," he said.
“We don’t need the money. What we need is to have a system. In a month I will have a working dinner alone with Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa,” he said.
Responding to criticisms from NDSS president Miloš Jovanović regarding the alleged “sale” of the General Staff building, Vučić said that the General Staff is not being sold and reminded that they were the ones who sold the Maršalat building.
“We are not selling the General Staff, while they sold the Maršalat and the Command building. That’s what fake patriots do — they sell everything, and then talk about ‘selling’ even though we are not selling anything,” he said.
He noted that a lot of time will pass before any work begins on the General Staff building.
“It was the same with Belgrade Waterfront — they threw yellow ducks at us, obstructed us, organized protests every day, and now they’re there every day,” Vučić stated.
Vučić said that he discussed the war in Ukraine with Macron.
“We didn’t talk about any weapons; we talked about peace. That gives me great hope,” he added.
Regarding the statement of transport operator Milomir Jaćimović, he said that he does not want to comment, but that he is glad that Jaćimović’s minor son has ended his hunger strike.
He added that it is possible that Macron will come to Belgrade "very soon."
"I am infinitely happy because I think I took part in something very important. We will see the results of this meeting before the end of the year," he concluded.
