The books were discovered during a search of the suspect’s home on Friday, the French newspaper Le Monde also reported.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Friday evening that the shooting in Yvelines, in which one person was killed and several others injured, marked a “turning point.” He described the incident as an attack motivated by racist ideology and urged citizens not to give in to ideas that are becoming increasingly widespread and could be used to justify such violence.

Macron condemned the attack as an act driven by racist ideology and warned of the dangers posed by the spread of views that could serve to justify such acts.

A 39-year-old man opened fire from a car at several people in Yvelines, in the western part of the Paris region, on Friday before being arrested in the town of Coignières, French authorities said.

According to France’s National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT), the 39-year-old suspect, Kevin T., was not listed in the S file, a database containing individuals considered potential threats to national security, but was known to police for previous criminal offenses.

The identity of the person fatally shot by the suspect remains unknown. French media have only reported that the victim was a 26-year-old man.

Five other people were injured in the attack, three of them seriously, including a 12-year-old girl.

The suspect was arrested in Coignières by officers from the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC). Investigators also found an improvised explosive trap involving gas cylinders in his apartment, according to sources close to the investigation.
