Elshani: Citizens without Kosovo documents will have to report to the police upon entering KiM VIDEO
Deputy commander of the so-called Kosovo Police for the North region, Veton Elshani, said the implementation of the Law on Foreigners of Temporary Institutions will soon begin in the part that concerns the obligation to report to police stations within 3 days.
The deputy commander of the so-called Kosovo Police for the North region, Veton Elshani, said that the implementation of the Law on Foreigners of Temporary Institutions will soon begin in the part that concerns the obligation to report to police stations within three days after entering Kosovo.
That way, it will be known where they stay, he said.
Elshani told Kosovo Online that the police will inform citizens from when registration will be mandatory. In this case, the Law on Temporary Institutions also considers Serbs without temporary institution documents who live and work in Kosovo, as well as those who periodically come to Kosovo for work or education, as foreigners.
Elshani said that if the police register people who have not complied with this obligation, their data will be sent to the border police of temporary institutions, which, he said, is obliged to issue fines.
According to him, in the case when someone comes to Kosovo by bus to visit churches or some other place, the police then receives information through the command in Prishtina and then it is not a problem to stay in Kosovo for a week, and when someone individually comes to the hotel, then the hotel owner is obliged to inform the police about it within two days.
Elshani stated that those who live and work in Kosovo should contact the police, where they will receive a form to register and added that short-term, temporary and permanent permits are issued for residence in Kosovo and Metohija.
When asked whether professors and doctors who come to Kosovo to work in an institution that functions in the Serbian system will be recognized with the certificates of those institutions in order to be issued residence permits, Elshani said that it depends on the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the temporary institutions.
