The wounded policeman revealed new details: He fired several shots at the attacker; "Shots rang out..."

Vasiljević also recounted what Ilić told him.

"They saw a 'Mercedes' with Tutin license plates. It was suspicious to them, they followed the vehicle, turned on the lights. The vehicle stopped a kilometer and a half away. The police officers got out of the vehicle and asked for personal documents, it was a routine control", said Vasiljević in the program "Oko" of Radio-Television of Serbia.

He points out that there was no shooting immediately, and both the driver and the passenger provided their personal documents. Respecting the rules, the police demanded that one person get out - the passenger, while the other person remained in the vehicle.

"The passenger got out, the person behaved normally in terms of gesticulation, he was smiling, police officer Ilić was on the left side, in the driver's area to keep him under control. Immediately after the start of the face control, shots were heard, it was in the back part of the vehicle," said Vasiljević.

He states that the assailant fired several shots at police officer Ilić and hit him in the right shoulder.

"As he (Ilić) says - it was very difficult, but he managed to fire several shots at that person," said Vasiljević.

There is no information whether the attacker was wounded. Ilic also said that the attacker did not know or did not want to speak the Serbian language.
