Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić visited today the construction site of the University Children’s Hospital “Tiršova 2,” saying that it looks beautiful and that it will be the largest children’s hospital in Southeast Europe.
“This facility will be completed by Vidovdan next year, and that will be a major step forward,” Vučić said after touring the construction site of the University Children’s Hospital “Tiršova 2.”
“I believe that children here will receive the best possible care and treatment. We will have the best doctors and the most beautiful hospital in this part of Europe,” the Serbian president said.
“Prokuplje will also get a magnificent hospital. People will no longer have to travel to Niš and Leskovac. We are also renovating hospitals in Leskovac and Vranje, while Niš will get a new maternity hospital,” Vučić said, adding that there had not been this much construction since the Second World War.
“65,000 square meters for all the children of Serbia and the region—the largest children’s hospital in Southeast Europe,” Vučić said, adding that he was very pleased with the progress regarding medicines.
“Yesterday, 1,925 [patients] received medicines, and today there will be at least three times as many. Innovative cancer medicines are arriving at hospitals in October,” Vučić added, saying they are among the most innovative and best medicines in the world.
“We are saving the lives of our people,” he stressed.
“The Clinical Centre of Serbia is a much larger investment. We will soon be opening new sections there,” Vučić said in response to journalists’ questions about the scale of investments in healthcare facilities.
Director of the University Children’s Hospital Siniša Dučić said the new hospital would introduce a new, modern approach to treating children.
“Excellent conditions for patients and their parents. The most modern diagnostics, with everything that can be done in one place. Compared with Tiršova 1, another advantage is that we will have sterile rooms, as well as sterile rooms for burn patients and immunocompromised patients,” Dučić said.
The president stressed that never in the history of Belgrade had so much been done.
“What could be better than seeing the maternity hospital earlier and now seeing Tiršova 2—the largest children’s hospital in Southeast Europe, equipped with the most modern technology? We have good doctors and hardworking people. The care provided to children will be much better. I’m also happy that things are going well with the medicines,” Vučić said.
“Maternity hospitals are of crucial importance,” President Vučić stressed.
Tour of the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics: “Everything to be completed by March 2028”
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić also visited today the ongoing renovation and refurbishment works at the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics, saying that efforts would be made to complete the first phase by the end of the year and the second phase by March 2028.
Representatives of the contractor told President Vučić during the tour that they would try to complete all the work by the end of 2027, to which the president replied that it would be fantastic.
