How the New Sava Bridge will look

The New Sava Bridge will be fully adapted for pedestrians and cyclists, and will have a total of six traffic lanes, four for cars and two for trams.

According to studies, thanks to the new bridge, the number of passengers on Branko’s Bridge will decrease by 8%, on Gazela Bridge by 5%, and on Ada Bridge by 4%.

The New Sava Bridge will be 420 meters long and will be supported by a total of six pillars. The bridge will be 38 meters wide, widening to 42 meters at pedestrian viewpoint areas. Two-way tram traffic will be positioned in the center, while two-way road traffic will have two lanes in each direction, each 6.5 meters wide.

Pedestrian and bicycle paths will be installed on both sides, making the new bridge fully accessible for pedestrians and cyclists.

The construction of the new bridge is also linked to the building of a tunnel from the Faculty of Economics to Despot Stefan Boulevard, which will help reduce traffic congestion in the city center by 17% and also decrease pollution in the city.

The tunnel will have two traffic lanes on each side and will be approximately two kilometers long. This is the first tunnel to be built in Belgrade in over fifty years. The New Sava Bridge is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.
