He emphasized that the state will have sufficient gas supplies.

“We guarantee energy security because without energy, you have nothing—nothing exists. Hospitals will shut down, clinical centers will close. Where will we treat people? Our entire healthcare system runs on diesel. So, whether we like it or not, you have to take everything into account,” Vučić said in an interview with Prva TV in Niš.

According to him, the energy sector is the most important area of the national economy.

“I think we will face even bigger challenges in the future. There is a lot we need to build. We need to construct an interconnector to North Macedonia. Regarding gas, we need to build what I call a ‘product pipeline.’ So, besides the gas interconnector to Romania, we also need to build an oil pipeline to Romania,” Vučić said.

The President of Serbia also expressed long-term concerns about electricity, noting that the country should turn to nuclear capacities.

“We need one nuclear power plant or two so-called small nuclear plants. Without them, we will face serious problems due to the future use of artificial intelligence and electric cars. We must look to the future, anticipate it, and prepare for it,” Vučić said.

He added that constructing a nuclear facility would take approximately 10 years.
