It is the first official meeting between Vučić and Rubio, the meeting was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Marko Djurić.

After the conversation, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, posted on his Instagram profile.

As he pointed out, it is an important and meaningful conversation about strengthening the political dialogue between Serbia and the USA, improving economic cooperation and common security challenges.

"The focus of the conversation was on the field of economy and trade, especially when it comes to solving the issue of American tariffs. We also considered the possibility of new investments, cooperation in the field of energy and new technologies, as well as the perspectives provided by the mechanism of our strategic dialogue.

I also emphasized that Serbia is committed to preserving peace and stability, as a prerequisite for any further progress and a better life for all citizens, expressing gratitude for the role of the United States of America in protecting the security of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as for their contribution to the dialogue process between Belgrade and Pristina. At the same time, we appreciate the support of the USA on our way to full membership in the European Union, which is one of the strategic goals of our country.

An open and honest dialogue, based on mutual trust and respect, is the best way to strengthen the partnership. I am convinced that our relations will gain even stronger momentum in the future, to our mutual benefit and in the interest of peace, stability and prosperity," Vučić wrote alongside the photos.

Aleksandar Vučić said earlier that the US Secretary of State requested a meeting with him during the session of the UN General Assembly and emphasized that he believes it is possible to resolve the issue of US tariffs.

Also, Vučić stated that the talks in New York are very important and that he expects a lot from them.

On Tuesday in New York, before the opening of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Vučić met with UN Secretary General António Guterres and several foreign officials, including Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Czech President Petr Pavel and Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa.

During his stay in New York, Vučić will have bilateral meetings with numerous world leaders and representatives of the international community.
