Vučić to address UN General Assembly in New York today – He will fight for Serbia at the UN

Sixteen speakers are scheduled to address the afternoon session, with Vučić fifth in line.

During the General Debate, representatives of each member state are expected and encouraged to keep their remarks to 15 minutes, although this is often not the case.

Vučić is expected to address the General Debate at 10 p.m. Central European Time, or 4 p.m. Eastern Time.

Before Vučić, the speakers will be Polish President Karol Nawrocki, Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Slovak President Peter Pellegrini, and Kenyan President William Ruto. He will be followed by representatives of Mozambique, Eswatini, Honduras, Montenegro, Venezuela, Uganda, Rwanda, Spain, Andorra, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Vučić has announced that in his address he will speak about numerous injustices and what he describes as the international community’s lack of objectivity and unfair treatment of Serbia over the past several decades.

“For me, the most important thing is that, to some extent, it can be heard and seen that I am representing Serbia’s interests. I will speak about numerous injustices — real injustices — and the international community’s lack of objectivity and unfair treatment of our country over the past several decades,” Vučić said in New York.

He added that he would speak about Serbia’s determination to pursue its course, despite the fact that many believed they had destroyed the country or would destroy it.

“I will speak about how Serbia will continue to develop and move forward, and I believe we have a tremendous opportunity to do so,” Vučić said.

He said that in his upcoming address to the United Nations General Assembly, as on previous occasions, he would outline Serbia’s position, which, as he put it, is “on the European path, but which also belongs, according to various parameters, to the Global South, and which maintains close ties with African and Asian countries.”

“I will speak about our position, but I will also speak about all the deceptions we have gone through over the past not 15, but 30 or 35 years; about false principles, hypocrisy, double standards, and about how and in what way we were told that it was necessary to hand over our people to the Hague Tribunal, after which everything would be fine and everything would flourish. Then we handed them over, roughly speaking, in sacks, and got nothing in return. We signed numerous agreements, and every agreement we signed was violated by those who had guaranteed them, and not only by some other party in the region,” the Serbian president said.

According to him, there will be plenty to say that people will recognize in today’s world and understand.

In New York, Vučić held a series of bilateral meetings with numerous world leaders and representatives of the international community.

He met with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

He also held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Romanian President Nicușor Dan, Slovenian President Janez Janša, Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker, Czech President Petr Pavel, and Polish President Karol Nawrocki.

President Vučić began his visit to the United States on Monday.
