The Serbian government expects NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen’s visit to Pristina to contribute to finding a peaceful solution in northern Kosovo. Serbian government’s Media Office Chief Milivoje Mihajlovic told this to daily Politika and added that the state had launched a serious diplomatic action. “Govt. expects NATO chief to help find peaceful solution” "We are in constant contact with the EU. We have informed the EU, UN and NATO that this is a unilateral act that can have serious consequences for the citizens of Kosovo and Metohija, and we request from the international missions administrating the part of Serbia which is under the UN protectorate to influence the interim authorities in Pristina not to draw such moves," Mihajlovic told the daily. He said that other activities referred to the government officials, that is the Serbian government employees and representatives of local administrations in Kosovo, whose task was to defuse tensions and try to prevent incidents in the field. The government’s Media Office chief said that no issue in Kosovo was so difficult that it could not be resolved at the negotiating table. "This is precisely where the Pristina interim authorities are making a mistake and the responsibility will fall on the members of international missions whose job is to appease the situation in Kosovo and resolve problems, and not to take sides," Mihajlovic underlined.
