Belgrade assembly officials are today debating the city draft budget for 2009. The assembly session began with a debate on the proposed agenda. The Serb Radical Party and the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) called for the dismissal and appointment of directors for several public companies in Belgrade to be included on the regular agenda, as opposed to being debated in shortened procedure. City assembly to debate budget DSS officials also demanded more information on the bridge that is to be built over Ada Ciganlija and the metro plans. According to the City Administration, Belgrade will have a budget of some EUR 840mn at its disposal next year. Changes to by-laws on costs of construction land will also be on today’s agenda, as will by-laws on utility and administrative taxes in the capital.
