Serbian currency's exchange rate stable in 2014

BELGRADE The exchange rate of the Serbian dinar will be stable next year as well, economists said at presentation of bulletin Macroecnomic Analyses and Trends (MAT). The publication is published by the Belgrade Economic Institute. Serbian currency's exchange rate stable in 2014 Vladimir Vuckovic, member of the independent body of the Serbian government's Fiscal Council, said that the exchange rate of the national currency will not be exposed to great pressures. "Since the inflation rate will be low, it is realistic to expect that the dinar exchange rate in 2014 will not endure great pressures as it was the case this year," he said. Vuckovic said that only in case of an unexpected crisis and disorder of capital flows abroad and thereby in Serbia as well, the dinar could suffer a sharp depreciation. Vladimir Vučković, member of the independent body of the Serbian government's Fiscal Council, said that the exchange rate of the national currency will not be exposed to great pressures.

"Since the inflation rate will be low, it is realistic to expect that the dinar exchange rate in 2014 will not endure great pressures as it was the case this year," he said.

Vučković said that only in case of an unexpected crisis and disorder of capital flows abroad and thereby in Serbia as well, the dinar could suffer a sharp depreciation.

Economist Miladin Kovačević stated that the dinar exchange rate will remain stable in 2014.
