Serbian currency drops to lowest level this year

The Serbian dinar (RSD) dropped by 0.1 percent against the euro (EUR) on Monday, the central bank (NBS) has announced.

Serbian currency drops to lowest level this year

Compared to a month ago, the domestic currency dropped 0.6 percent, and on an annual basis, it is down 3.8 percent.

The indicative exchange rate against U.S. dollar reached RSD 95.1556, marking a 1.2 percent slump for the dinar.

The dinar is down 3.8 percent against the dollar when compared to a month ago and 11.6 percent compared to last year.

The Serbian currency was at its highest on January 1 this year, when the exchange rate was at RSD 114.6421 for one euro, while its lowest value before this latest was recorded on September 8, when the rate was at RSD 119.0441.

The NBS has bought EUR 200 million and sold EUR 1.025 billion on the interbank foreign exchange market this year to prevent excessive volatility of the currency.
