Macron writes to Vucic, confirms visit to Serbia
Macron described Serbia as France's "important strategic partner," welcoming Vucic's actions to strengthen the stability of the Western Balkans."France supports your country's accession to the European Union, remaining a pillar of stability and economic development on the continent. Over the past years, your government has been working resolutely to strengthen the stability of the Western Balkans and their economic development, which are activities I wish to welcome," the French president said.
"It was a great pleasure to talk to you during the UN General Assembly in September. You mentioned the possibility of my visiting Serbia in 2018, a very important year to mark our alliance in the world's conflict. I am very grateful for the invitation, and I confirm my intention to visit Serbia, as soon as an opportunity arises," the French president said in the letter.
Vucic traveled to Paris on Monday at the invitation of President Macron, where he was a Western Balkan representative at the One Planet Summit, marking the second anniversary of the Paris climate agreement.
