Broadcasting via a television station run by his son Saif, Muammar Gaddafi has threatened to prevent Libya’s oil exports, euronews reported. Urging his supporters to fight on, the deposed dictator used the 42nd anniversary of the coup that brought him to power to promise an Iraqi-style insurgency against the new government. Gaddafi threatens to prevent oil exports “Get ready for gang war”, he said, “a storm of bees that sting and run away and return to sting once more”. Fifteen billion dollars in frozen Libyan assets have now been freed in a Franco-British meeting in Paris, with the NTC to help the new administration get the country moving again. For Libya, that means pumping oil, the nation’s life blood and major foreign companies are now circling, looking for a share in the reconstruction bounty, with France’s Total reportedly looking to replace Italy’s ENI as the biggest player.
