Croatian President Ivo Josipovic urged Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor to initiate procedures to see whether his statements were a violation of the constitution. “If the Prime Minister believes that this act violated the constitution, then let her implement the procedures for determining the president’s responsibility in accordance with regulations, but if it is shown that I did not violate the constitution, then I will ask that the Prime Minister hand in her resignation,” Josipovic said. Croatian President urges PM to investigate his statements Kosor stated that she never mentioned such intentions and called on Josipovic to “stop sending message through the media and to have a sit-down at the table” with her. “I have no intention of resigning, and the president cannot call on me to do so because he does not have the constitutional authority to do so,” Kosor said. Because of the statements Josipovic made before the Bosnian parliament on Thursday, stating remorse for the Croatian efforts in the 1990s to partition Bosnia-Herzegovina, Josipovic was harshly criticized by Kosor and her entire ruling part (HDZ). Ruling officials said that his statements were not in accordance with the declaration of the Homeland War. “They did not have the courage of strength for that, that is why they are fabricating my violations of the constitution, stating that I am not condemning Milosevic, balancing the blame, but the whole thing is very simple. A little honesty and good will is needed to recognize ones mistakes, even evil, which is not only seen in others, but that does not mean that I am balancing out the blame or belittling the importance of the Homeland War,” Josipovic said.
