A memorial service was held today near Banja Luka for the 2,300 Serb victims of the WW2 Ustasha violence. The Serb civilians from the villages around what is today the largest town in the Republic of Srpska (RS) were gathered by Croatia's Ustashas on February 7, 1942, and executed. RS President Rajko Kuzmanovic, members of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) clergy, Banja Luka Mayor Dragoljub Davidovic, and a large number of citizens gathered at the site today. "The Serbs are a nation that wishes peace and freedom and that will never react to crime with another crime, but will remember and seek that all those responsible must be convicted, so that something like this never happens again," Kuzmanovic said, after a religious ceremony served for the souls of the dead.
