Presidential elections will be held in Montenegro on April 6, Speaker Ranko Krivokapic announced yesterday. Beta news agency reports from Podgorica that Krivokapic called on citizens to participate in the election process, thus contributing to "the culture of dialogue, living in harmony together and everything that adorns Montenegro." The largely ceremonial post has a 5-year mandate. Montenegro became independent in June 2006 after voting to dissolve the union with its larger neighbor Serbia.
