Govt. rejects amendments to Law on Ministries draft

The Serbian government at its Wednesday session did not adopt any of the 39 amendments submitted to the draft on changes to the Law on Ministries.

BELGRADE The Serbian government at its Wednesday session did not adopt any of the 39 amendments submitted to the draft on changes to the Law on Ministries. The announcement was made by the Serbian Parliament Committee on Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government. Govt. rejects amendments to Law on Ministries draft The Serbian parliament is meeting today in Belgrade to discuss the amandemnts submitted to the draft, which envisages a reconstructed government with 18 ministries. The committee said it proposed to parliament to refuse all the 39 amendments to the proposed changes in the law, but it also put forward four other amendments. In the amendments, the Committee specifies the authorities of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance and it also says that the Finance Ministry will be monitoring the work of the Republic Property Directorate. The amendments proposed by the committee were also accepted by Minister of Justice and Public Administration Nikola Selakovic. The amendments to the changes to the Law on Ministries were filed by MPs of the Democratic Party, United Regions of Serbia, Liberal Democratic Party and MP Riza Halimi who petitioned for the foundation of the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights. The adoption of the changes to the law is part of the procedures paving the way for Serbia's reshuffled cabinet to be confirmed in parliament. Parliament Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic earlier today announced that MPs would vote on the draft on the Law on Ministries on Thursday morning. Immediately after that, a new session will begin that should accept the resignations of ministers leaving the cabinet as part of the reshuffle. The Serbian parliament is meeting today in Belgrade to discuss the amandemnts submitted to the draft, which envisages a reconstructed government with 18 ministries.

The committee said it proposed to parliament to refuse all the 39 amendments to the proposed changes in the law, but it also put forward four other amendments.

In the amendments, the Committee specifies the authorities of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance and it also says that the Finance Ministry will be monitoring the work of the Republic Property Directorate.
