Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS) leader Jovan Krkobabic has said there is a possibility that the talks on the forming of the government will fail. He added that parliamentary elections would in that case be repeated. “Parliamentary elections could be repeated” “We should not rule out any option in Serbia because there is a thousand ways to form the future government. It could also happen that all talks fail and that the parliamentary elections will be repeated,” he told daily Vecernje novosti. Krkobabic expects the Democratic Party (DS) to inform President Tomislav Nikolic that it has secured the parliamentary majority with the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS)-PUPS-United Serbia (JS) coalition and “some other political partners” in the beginning of next week. When asked who would be the third partner in the coalition, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) or the United Regions of Serbia (URS), he said that it was up to the Democrats to negotiate with potential political allies. “We are not taking part in those talks. The DS took it upon itself to negotiate with potential political allies. I expect them to tell us soon what they have done and with whom we could form the majority,” the PUPS leader was quoted as saying. He pointed out, however, that this did not mean that the SPS-led coalition would “accept anyone (DS leader Boris) Tadic chooses.” “When we know who the potential partners are, we will see whether our political programs and principles on which the government should be based are in accordance with each other,” Krkobabic concluded. SPS leader Ivica Dacic has stated that the talks on the forming of the government would be finished by the end of June and stressed that economic program should be the main topic of the talks.
