Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) and Social Democratic Union (SDU) said Saturday that Serbia needed a turnover. LDP, SPO, SDU, NGO representatives and prominent public figures added that the country had to change its policy, especially with regard to the Kosovo, if it wanted to join the EU. LDP: Serbia needs turnover At the presentation of the declaration dubbed “Serbia to Europe - Europe to Serbia” which was backed by LDP, SPO, SDU, minority parties, the Association of free and independent trade unions, organizations of the civilian society and prominent figures, LDP leader Cedomir Jovanovic underscored that “Europe is the only acceptable lighthouse for the stray society of Serbia.” “We want (Serbian President Boris) Tadic to sign a proclamation,” Jovanovic said and added that this was the only thing the president was required to do and that the patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the rector of the University of Belgrade need to do the same before December 9. He noted that representatives of his party would tour the country by that date with a view to presenting the declaration, while a big gathering would be staged in Belgrade on December 9. SPO leader Vuk Draskovic stated that all decent and responsible people knew that the country's top officials were never as irresponsible in the contemporary Serbian history as they had been over the past 20 years. “Their policy and blindness have caused Serbia to lose both Kosovo and the old allies and friends in Western Europe,” he explained. SDU leader Zarko Korac stated that Serbia's democratic forces were paralyzed and that all those who were against Europe were behaving aggressively and using the Kosovo issue as an argument against Europe for the umpteenth time.
