EC: Serbia has made progress

Visiting European Commission official Pierre Mirel said that Serbia has made progress in implementing reforms and fighting organized crime.

Visiting European Commission official Pierre Mirel said that Serbia has made progress in implementing reforms and fighting organized crime. Mirel, who is director for Western Balkans in European Commission’s DG Enlargement, also said that Belgrade has made progress in regional cooperation, but called on Serbia to offer a "constructive approach to the problem of customs in Kosovo". Mirel said that he especially welcomed the improvement of relations between Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina and the adoption of the Srebrenica resolution by the Serbian parliament, as well as President Boris Tadic’s attendance a the recent Srebrenica commemoration. Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic, who had met with the EC official, stated afterwards that there were “open issues on the depth and speed of reforms” but that Serbia would continue to implement reforms and work on improving the living standard of all its citizens through European integration.
