Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) President Vojislav Kostunica said that cooperation is good between the opposition parties. “There is no need to create a new Democratic Opposition of Serbia (DOS). This kind of cooperation is good enough for our goals to be achieved,” Vojislav Kostunica said at a press conference. DSS on cooperation with other parties He was referring to a coalition of opposition parties that in 2000 removed the Milosevic regime from power in Serbia. Kostunica said that it is important for the opposition parties to stand behind something bigger and more important than a demand for new elections, and that this was “the feeling of the public and nation of Serbia who want change, that we are all, the opposition parties and the people, in agreement that change is needed.” “Parties are heading into elections with some differences in manifestos and these differences are complementary, good and enable us to get more from the elections, so that it is certain that this cooperation leads to getting something from the elections that represents what is happening in Serbia at this moment,” Kostunica said. Regarding opposition Serb Progressive Party (SNS) leader Tomislav Nikolic’s call to Kostunica to state whether he is "for or against EU integration", Kostunica said that there is no problem there and that his stance is clear. “Nikolic supports that as well, and I believe that this is the stance in the ruling coalition, and least as far as declarations go, that everyone wants Serbia as a whole to enter the EU, not a part of Serbia. I do not see any problem there,” Kostunica said, adding that DSS and SNS have an agreement and that DSS supports wider cooperation with the opposition. He added that there is a clear line between the opposition and ruling parties and the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), which he said is an “extended part of the ruling coalition.” Kostunica said that Serbia needs changes and elections, and that a stronger DSS is needed with more young people joining the party. The former Serbian premier said that the current government was formed without paying attention to the will of the citizens, from the outside and with the help of tycoons, which he did not wish to name.
