Report: Deputy UNMIK chief under investigation
Quoting anonymous sources, the daily claimed that UN internal control investigators arrived in Priština to conduct the probe. The same sources alleged that it would be a dual-track investigation. The first part will look into Shook’s reported arrogance and his conduct that was reportedly labeled as “colonization-like”, while the second will be oriented towards his alleged involvement in activities unrelated with his functions.
Nonetheless, UNMIK officials did not confirm the reprots. UNMIK spokesman Alex Ivanko said only that internal control staff had arrived in Kosovo, but that their visit was “not related exclusively to one person.”
Ivanko added that the UN actually sent its internal control financial auditors as part of a UN routine to “tour UN-administered areas and gain full insight into UN employees’ work before their mandate expired.”
UNMIK also said it had no information of the alleged investigation into its second-ranked official’s actions.
