UNS also said that as many as 39 journalists and media workers employed by Serbian newsrooms, including Slavko Curuvija, Milan Pantic, Dada Vujasinovic, and the victims of the NATO air strikes on the RTS broadcaster have been killed, kidnapped, disappeared or have died under unclear circumstances, in the period from 1991 to the end of 2001.

"In Kosovo alone, from August 1998 to September 2000, seven journalists and media workers were either killed or went missing, with none of their murderers and kidnappers ever found," the statement said.

UNS pointed out that after almost ten years the perpetrators of the attempted murder against then Vreme weekly journalist Dejan Anastasijevic have not been found and punished, and that the same is true of the incidents where Ivan Ninic and FoNet editor Davor Pasalic were targeted, one and two years ago, respectively.
