Head of local SPS arrested in southern town
Vlajkovic was detained along with another suspect, O.Z., both on charges of abuse of official position.Vlajkovic is suspected of selling business premises of 150 sq-meters located in downtown Nis in 2008 well below the market price to the Jugotehnika shareholder society.
In this way, Nisstan lost EUR 210,000.
Vlajkovic is suspected of incurring further losses of EUR 73,000 to the public company when the buyer failed to pay half the agreed sum, providing Nisstan with bills of exchange instead.
O.Z. has been charged because she accepted before a court, in her role as Nisstan's legal representative, Jugotehnika's claim that the issued bills of exchange were paid - although Jugotehnika's bank account was blocked at the time.
With O.Z's statement, Jugotehnika was able to become the legal owner of the property.
Both suspects are currently in 48-hour police custody, and will later be turned over the Higher Public Prosecution in Nis.
