Agim Ceku has "accused Serbia of abusing her Interpol membership" in order to issue "political arrest warrants with no legal basis". Ceku, one of the leaders of the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and subsequently a prime minister of the Kosovo Albanian government, was arrested in Colombia earlier this week on a Belgrade-issued war crimes warrant. "Colombian officials told me they were not impressed by Serbia's request and that I could carry on with my program, but when an Interpol request came, they got upset and asked me to leave Colombia in 24 hours," he stated. According to Ceku, those officials also told him he would not be arrested but "removed" from Colombia "because of an Interpol request, with which Colombia has close and daily cooperation due to its internal problems". He also advised Interpol to "seriously" look into Serbia's arrest warrants for "Kosovo citizens". "Serbia is abusing her Interpol membership, compromising Interpol asking it to act on political demands that have no legal basis. I think it's time for Interpol to seriously look into this issue and tell Serbia, 'enough with frivolous demands'," said Ceku.
