According to Večernji list, firefighters, together with police, emergency services, and the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS), immediately responded after receiving reports that a group of migrants had attempted to cross the river in a boat.Initial reports indicate that there were reportedly a total of 13 people on the boat. &ldquo;There are fatalities, and eight people have been rescued alive from the Sava,&rdquo; confirmed Ivan Vuleta, commander of the Slavonski Brod Fire Department, to Infopix.The police also released a statement confirming that several people had been pulled from the river.&ldquo;Several people have been rescued. According to current information, one person has died, while another is receiving resuscitation. The others are suffering from hypothermia and have been taken to the hospital for treatment,&rdquo; police spokeswoman Kata Nujić told Infopix. All survivors were transported to the General Hospital &ldquo;Dr. Josip Benčević&rdquo; in Slavonski Brod.&ldquo;So far, we have received 11 people who are currently being treated. More information about their health condition will be available after ongoing medical diagnostics,&rdquo; hospital director Dr. Josip Samardžić told Infopix.During the rescue operation, a drone monitored the river, and the entire stretch along the Sava was temporarily closed to traffic.
