Putin bluffing? "He is not ready for a war with Europe"

Speaking to reporters on condition of anonymity ahead of the NATO ministerial meeting, the official said that although the Alliance is aware of Putin&rsquo;s recent statements, it does not interpret them as a sign of genuine intent, European Pravda reports.&ldquo;Putin may say he is ready for war. But when Putin says something, it often does not turn out to be true. And in any case, I do not believe Vladimir Putin is ready for a war with Europe,&rdquo; the official said.The NATO representative acknowledged that Russia&rsquo;s military capabilities remain significant, especially due to the experience it has gained in the war in Ukraine. However, in the Alliance&rsquo;s view, that does not make Putin&rsquo;s threats credible.&ldquo;Capability for war, but not for victory&rdquo;&ldquo;He is not ready. But I am not saying that Russia is not producing enough military equipment, or that Russia lacks military capability or the economic base for such a campaign. And of course, this does not mean that Russia does not want to change the European security architecture,&rdquo; the official explained.&ldquo;The reason is that he knows NATO will defend itself &mdash; and even if he has the capability to wage a war, he does not have the capability to win. And most importantly, I believe Putin understands that NATO is now incredibly united in defending its allies,&rdquo; the senior official concluded.It was earlier reported that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced that the Alliance would take part in discussions on elements of a potential peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia that pertain to NATO.
