According to him, the curfew will remain in place due to public discontent, as well as the expectation that the situation will not change significantly in the coming days.

Speaking to BFMTV, Nuñez said that 267 law enforcement officers were injured during the protests in France over the weekend, most of them suffering minor injuries, along with more than 250 demonstrators.

He stated that French authorities had managed to keep Saturday’s protests across France under control and that “no serious incidents” had been reported.

However, Nuñez pointed to the “very high level of violence against police officers,” particularly violence attributed to the “far-left movement” that joined the protests.

He emphasized that the far-left movement was kept under control on Saturday, unlike during the protests held on October 17.

French authorities deployed around 70,000 police officers and gendarmes across the country for Saturday’s protests.

According to data from the French Ministry of the Interior, approximately 410,000 people took part in protests across France, while the CGT trade union estimated the number at around 800,000. In Paris, approximately 110,000 people demonstrated, according to police figures, compared with the union’s estimate of 250,000.
