Dramatic warning: Risk of a new conflict is rising

As they pointed out, the deadlock in the talks is increasing fears that a new military conflict could follow, while U.S. officials believe that President Donald Trump could order the resumption of major military operations after the midterm elections.

Qatari mediator Ali Al-Tawadi met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his team in New York on Monday, with the talks lasting several hours.

The discussions focused on a two-page Qatari compromise proposal aimed at addressing Iran’s demand for the lifting of the U.S. naval blockade and Washington’s demand that Tehran make concessions regarding its nuclear program.

Al-Tawadi then held talks in Washington with Trump’s envoy Jared Kushner and other U.S. officials, with Vice President J.D. Vance also attending part of the meeting.

Earlier on Monday, U.S. officials described the talks as “positive and constructive” and said Iran had shown a willingness to be flexible on nuclear issues.

According to the officials, Trump was prepared to consider easing sanctions and unfreezing Iranian assets in exchange for concrete steps to limit the country’s nuclear program.

However, several hours later, Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social that he had offered Iran nothing.

One source familiar with the talks said that no significant progress was made on Monday and that the situation was “at an impasse,” while another said Iran had indicated that it would consider concessions regarding its nuclear program only if the United States agreed to return to the memorandum of understanding from June.

Iran has conveyed its conditions to the United States, said Mohsen Rezaei, secretary-general of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, who described Trump as “incapable of making a decision.”

Trump said yesterday that the U.S. goal was to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

“They’re not doing well. I don’t know if they’re ready to give up yet. They will give up. The goal is preventing nuclear weapons. Iran will not have nuclear weapons,” Trump told reporters.
