Planned assassination of a top Russian Ministry of Defense official; Woman arrested, shocking details revealed

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said today that it had prevented a planned terrorist attack targeting a high-ranking official of the Russian Ministry of Defense in Moscow.

The FSB also arrested a 25-year-old Russian female citizen suspected of cooperating with Ukrainian special services.

According to the FSB, the suspect was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence services in 2024 to collect intelligence and identify locations in Moscow and St. Petersburg that could potentially be used for carrying out attacks, Sputnik reported.

She was in a relationship with a Ukrainian operative

The Russian security service said that the Ukrainian operative was in a romantic relationship with her and had promised to continue their relationship in Ukraine after she completed her assignments.

According to the statement, the woman rented an apartment in Moscow in March 2026, where she installed cameras to transmit signals to Ukraine in order to monitor the movements of a military official.

The FSB claims that, in the same apartment, she prepared conditions for the accommodation of the person who was supposed to carry out the attack.

According to the Russian security service, the operative was planned to travel to Moscow after the suspect left Russia and traveled to Ukraine via Turkey and Moldova.
