With the departure of two groups of passengers from the MV Hondius who will fly to Netherlands and Australia, the ship is expected to sail for Rotterdam with approximately 30 people still on board, where the vessel will be disinfected, according to EFE.

Spanish passengers from the cruise ship spent the night at Gómez Ulla Military Hospital without any reported symptoms, and will later be transferred to quarantine, where their condition will be closely monitored.

According to media reports, the last flights from Tenerife South Airport are scheduled for this afternoon, including one to Australia carrying six passengers and another to the Netherlands carrying 18 passengers.

After these departures, 34 crew members will remain on board the ship, which will stop to refuel before continuing its voyage toward the Dutch port of Rotterdam.

As of today, a total of 94 passengers from the MV Hondius have been evacuated to their home countries, while another 24 passengers are scheduled for evacuation today.

According to the latest information, seven flights transporting people from eight different countries have been arranged, Spanish Health Minister Mónica García said at a press conference alongside Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska, Minister of Territorial Policy Ángel Víctor Torres, and Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization.

A woman who was among five French nationals evacuated on Sunday showed symptoms of hantavirus during the flight and tested positive for the virus.

Stéphanie Rist, the French health minister, revealed today that after the initial symptoms, the woman’s condition “worsened overnight.”

Rist emphasized that 22 French nationals had been identified as contacts and would remain in isolation.

A woman from Spain who had been in contact with one of the deceased passengers and was hospitalized in Alicante was placed in quarantine after two tests for hantavirus came back negative.

A PCR test conducted on a resident of Barcelona, who is also in quarantine there, was likewise negative, and she will remain isolated for between three and six weeks.

Among the 26 passengers on board were eight Dutch nationals, along with people from India, Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Greece, Portugal, Ukraine, Guatemala, Philippines, and Montenegro, according to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Three people have died since the start of the outbreak, while five people who had previously left the ship were infected with hantavirus.

Hantavirus is most commonly transmitted through contact with the urine or feces of infected rodents, although in rare cases it can also spread between humans.

Symptoms usually appear between one and eight weeks after exposure.
