Russian "Antonov" crashes; All dead; Was it shot down? PHOTO
A Russian military transport plane, the An-26, crashed while flying over Crimea, killing six crew members and 23 passengers, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
According to the ministry, contact with the An-26 was lost on Tuesday at around 6:00 p.m. Moscow time, and the plane was on a routine flight over Crimea.
The search and rescue team has located the crash site of the An-26 plane.
According to reports from the scene, all six crew members and 23 passengers on board were killed, the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
According to the statement, “the preliminary cause of the crash is a technical malfunction.”
The Russian Ministry of Defense commission is working at the crash site, the Russian military said.
