In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Trump did not answer whether he condemns the actions of an unnamed agent who fatally shot protester Alex Pretti with several shots.

However, he said that the decision to send ICE agents to Minnesota is being reviewed and that it is possible they will be withdrawn in the coming period.

“At some point they will leave. I think they’ve done a phenomenal job,” Trump said, adding that ICE officers will be replaced by “another group of people” who are supposed to investigate the alleged “mass fraud” that his administration accuses individuals in Minnesota of.

He also criticized Pretti for carrying a gun at the protest, noting that in Minnesota it is legal to own and carry a firearm.

“I don’t like shootings, I don’t like gunfights, but I also don’t like it when people come to protests with powerful weapons and two magazines,” he added.

Radical members of Trump’s administration, such as his close associate Stephen Miller, have used the fact that Pretti had a weapon as justification for the killing.

However, video footage revealed that Pretti’s weapon was taken from him before the still‑unidentified ICE agent fired several shots into him and killed him on the spot.

Because of this killing — especially the fact that some members of Trump’s team tried to justify it — there have been even larger protests in Minnesota and other parts of the United States.
