Alert level raised to the highest; two 'Oreshnik' supermissiles ready VIDEO/PHOTO
Ukrainian intelligence services have warned that there is a possibility that Russia could launch two supersonic “Oreshnik” missiles within the next five days, according to the “Military Observer” profile on the social media platform X.
The warning reportedly applies for the period from January 21, i.e., today, until January 26. The alert was also issued on Telegram channels monitoring developments in Ukraine.
It is further emphasized that, due to this warning, Ukraine is in a high state of readiness.
Ukrainian intelligence officials still do not have precise information on whether this would be a launch as part of an “Oreshnik” test, or if the hypersonic missile would be fired at targets within Ukraine.
Russian forces last used the “Oreshnik” missiles in a large-scale attack on key targets in Ukraine on the night of January 8–9, and the strikes were confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) has stated that the Russian "Oreshnik" missile attack on the western Lviv region is being treated as a war crime.
The "Oreshnik" is a medium-range hypersonic missile, capable of successfully evading most of the best air defense systems, which, according to Military Observer, places this latest warning in the category of "very serious."
