The world has not yet recovered from the U.S. raid in Venezuela and the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, as U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to topple the systems in several countries.
The first countries potentially targeted could be Colombia, Cuba, and Mexico. Meanwhile, Venezuela is trying to get back on its feet and ensure at least some semblance of normal functioning.
Machado: We Venezuelans are grateful to Trump, Venezuela will be a key U.S. ally
Venezuelans are grateful to U.S. President Donald Trump for the military operation that led to the arrest and removal of the country’s president Nicolás Maduro, Venezuelan opposition politician María Corina Machado said today.
In a message on the X platform, Machado said that “Venezuela will be a key ally of the United States in security, energy, democracy, and human rights,” Bitlyanews reports.
“The brave people of Venezuela took to the streets in 30 countries and 130 cities worldwide to celebrate this huge step, which marks the inevitability and upcoming transition in Venezuela. We Venezuelans thank President Donald Trump and his administration for their firmness and determination in upholding the law,” Machado emphasized.
“Freedom for Venezuela is near, and soon we will celebrate in our country. We will shout, pray, and embrace like families because our children will return home,” Machado said.
“Maduro injured during kidnapping; His wife suffers broken ribs”
Arrested Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were brought before a court in New York today on charges filed by U.S. authorities, with claims during the hearing that Flores sustained serious injuries during her arrest in Venezuela.
Delcy Rodríguez was sworn in today as interim President of Venezuela, two days after the United States arrested Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores in Caracas.
“I will give neither rest to my hand nor peace to my soul until I see Venezuela fulfilling its rightful destiny as a free, sovereign, and independent nation. I swear to the people of Venezuela that I will not rest until I guarantee peace and tranquility to the republic,” Rodríguez said during the oath-taking ceremony, Bitlyanews reports.
Rodríguez is the first woman to assume the presidency of Venezuela.
After taking the oath as interim President, she stated that she attended the ceremony “with sorrow for the suffering inflicted on the people” of the country following what she called the “illegitimate U.S. military aggression.”
