End of the war in 90 days?
U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, stated that a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine could be achieved within the next 90 days, with increased pressure from Washington on both sides. He noted that the coming months will be crucial.
"A resolution in Ukraine is possible within the next 90 days," said U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, in an interview with Fox News.
"If the conflict ends, it will be within the next 90 days," Whitaker added.
He said it is "obvious" that this winter could be "truly harsh for Ukrainians" due to the impact on energy infrastructure.
Whitaker also added that Washington plans to continue exerting pressure on both sides to resolve the conflict. If anyone can achieve this, the U.S. Permanent Representative emphasized, it is U.S. President Donald Trump.
Earlier this week, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that the EU countries and the United States had agreed to provide security guarantees to Ukraine, similar to NATO’s Article 5. Trump confirmed that the United States is ready to assist Ukraine with security guarantees, as they are necessary to achieve an end to the conflict.
Whitaker stated that the U.S. wants to understand what Russia is willing to do to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, while Washington has a "fairly good idea" of what Kyiv wants. However, Whitaker also noted that Ukraine must be prepared for military action in 2026.
According to Trump himself, negotiations for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine are continuing and are proceeding "normally." As part of this process, the parties are discussing four documents, Whitaker said: a 20-point peace plan, multilateral security guarantees, separate U.S. security guarantees, and an economic growth plan for the post-peace period.
During a live broadcast, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Moscow is ready to resolve the conflict peacefully, including "eliminating the underlying causes that led to this crisis." If Kyiv refuses dialogue, Putin emphasized, Moscow will achieve these goals by military means.
